To all of you affected by Sandy, my heart goes out to you. What devastation is filling the news...and will for months, years to come. I hope each of you is safe and was spared the worst. We were barely brushed by her up here, even though the forecasts were dire even in our neck of the woods.
Because we knew Sandy would bring an abrupt end to the glorious riot of color that blessed us this Fall, this moody Sunday we took the dogs to Olana to say goodbye to what has been a rich and lush season. Here are the photos...
Please tell me how you all made out? Are you all okay?

Each time I see new words, I wonder if they will bring safe news, and am so thankful when they do.This has brought so much havoc that I can hardly believe, stay safe up there, your autumn photos will have captured the last leaves ,lovely colours.Greetings from Jean
Wonderful shots! My favorite is the last one.
We are having rain and wind today in Maine. Our leaves too are a thing of Autumn past. I love your contrast with the browns, golds and yellows against the green grass. Glad you were safe.
Beautiful pictures--I look forward to visiting Olana one day. All is well here.
Olana is new to me. Thank you for sharing. Great pictures.
I will hope to visit, possibly in 2013.
We have wandered our way back to Jacksonville. Chilly tonight, high thirties are forecast. We will be in our home RV park on December 1st. We are fine.
My two daughter's and one granddaughter are in Maine, near Portland, they are fine too. Wind and rain and no doubt snow in a few days.
Wishing you good things the week.
Cold Spring/Garrison is still feeling the aftereffects - no commuter train service so for three days (so far) no one can get to work in NYC - you know that will affect paychecks. The Nutrition Center has been closed so there haven't been homebound meals delivered for these three days. Garrison has major outages - however, there are trucks everywhere (so I've heard) and for the first time in three years, there hasn't been power outages in Cold Spring. (Thank Cent Hudson for their severe tree cutbacks in the past month or so. We were all a tad upset by the amount taken off the tops of these beautiful trees, but it stopped the wires from being whipped and snapped by the branches.) Branches will grow back. The Hudson River breached its walls at the foot of Main Street and has flooded the houses across from the river front park. Its now beginning to rain again but there will be sunny skies ahead, and this is what we must believe. No matter what has happened, there will be a way to come back from it.
@ PatsyAnne...I love Cold Spring and am sorry to hear you all had issues. I can picture the river front park but can't imagine seeing it, and the Main St. houses under water. Wishing you all a quick recovery, and admiring your spirit!
Spectacular pix, Ashling!!!!...:)JP
All beautiful images! Noticed the bridge in the second (cool).
Thank you for sharing the blessing.
We expected and we spared the worst. We took precautions.
Have a H(͡๏̯͡๏)T'ing Halloween!
Ashling, this was beautifully articulated and these images are a perfect feast.
I am glad to know you are well.
Beautiful photos Ashling.
Have a good weekend
