The Day After
Well, I know there are areas that got blasted. My son in Boston says he has two feet of the stuff. However, here the storm lacked the much-touted drama and impact, and basically was just a normal snow storm, the kind that was matter-of-fact when I was a kid. Today the wind is blowing the mercifully light stuff about, wraiths racing up the hill and across the road, white tornadoes dancing in the yard and vanishing in a blink. We've shoveled and snow-blown, swept off cars, cleared a little open pen space so the chickens can sun themselves tomorrow when it's a bit warmer. We've vaselined their combs because tonight is supposed to be really, really cold, and Linda has cleared off the entrances to the hives. Hot chocolate has been sipped and it's time for PBS' Victory Garden, followed by afternoon chores.

It sounds like a wonderful snowy day. I've heard that some of the areas were really hit. But, good for you guys. Enjoy the hot chocolate.

Glad all is well. Hope the chickens will be ok. How do they keep from freezing?
Looks as though you had plenty of snow, like the vaseline idea, will send it to #2 daughter in the south, for the coming winter here, as they can get lots fo freezing weather and snow. Take care, hot chocolate, sounds so good. Cheers from Jean
Your snow looks like our snow. Ours was lake-effect, not from the blizzard. And it is friggin' cold. I allow my son to do the snow removal; it's the least I can do, don't want to deprive him of the fun!!!
So staying in is the order of the day with good books, movies and computer!! I am glad you didn't lose power!!!

WE did get some big snow , actually live a few hours from your sons town I posted photos yesterday and today if anyone is interested in what the snowfall looked like in these parts, wreaked a little power outages for a few days. The ponies were enjoying it as you can see by today photos, the tree weren't enjoying it much s you can see by the first storm day photos we actually had one of old cedar tumble right over down back :( Love my old cedars hated loosing one. Chikens never left the coop two days straight now!

We got 29 inches...it was a good one..but I am ready for spring!! LOL and I have seen worse up in Northern Maine...actually the melting & dampness with the mud is worse..than the storm...My girls wouldn't even come out :D Glad you came through ok...
